AWS Mobile Services further validates MBaaS Market

Last week our partner Amazon launched a number of new mobile services including Cognito (core security such as identity management and authorization as well as cross device and cross platform sync), Mobile Analytics (cross platform analytics and reporting), SNS Mobile Push (cross platform push notifications) and an AWS Mobile SDK with mobile connectors for AWS services such as Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon S3.  AWS Mobile Services seem to be largely targeted initially at the consumer, but clearly the push towards enterprise customers will evolve as well.

FeedHenry believes that this announcement further validates the need for enterprise customers to consider MBaaS for the fast moving mobile market and the increased needs for enterprises to iterate quickly in this space.  The fact that this announcement came from a major cloud provider should not be overlooked.  FeedHenry, was born cloud and has one of the most extensive cloud deployment models and the most experienced operations team in enterprise mobility today. We recognized very early on that it would be important for cloud-based providers to expand their offerings to include key mobile services.  Our flexible cloud deployment capabilities have been core to our platform since the beginning and is particularly attractive to enterprise customers who do not want to be locked-in to a single provider or deployment type.  FeedHenry has the ability to deploy its MBaaS (as part of our platform) across any cloud infrastructure vendor.

AWS’ mobile services offering is very much targeted at the consumer space, where many of their peers such as Facebook and PayPal have made strategic acquisitions – Parse and StackMob, respectively.  AWS has instead decided to build their service  offering but it’s early days , as they push forward deeper into the more complex enterprise market, the incumbent and more experienced MBaaS players may become attractive for partnering or acquisition..

As AWS is provided as a set of individual services and APIs, it means that FeedHenry’s customers can (and do!) make use of features like SNS irrespective of where their cloud is hosted. This flexibility in the FeedHenry platform enables developers to mashup exactly the combination of heterogeneous services that they need.

Bottom line it is great to see our partner begin this journey and we believe this launch will strengthen the market, pushing forward this already exploding space.
